I've said it a million times; I'm not the greatest with more minimalist makeup, but Robyn giving me Giselle was a great excuse to try. I don't think we've done any live action characters before, so this was new!
Amy Adams is ridiculously beautiful, and her Giselle makeup is very... not natural, per se; just light. The lipstick is a peachy pinkish semi-natural shade and her blush compliments it. If you close in on that picture, you'll see she's wearing medium brown winged liner, too.
I tried doing the peach lipstick thing, but it's a very different effect on my skin tone, so I went for a nude-with-a-touch-of-color shade, and since my skin is medium to dark brown, I went for soft black liner. I figured the effect would be equivalent, you know?
Check out that wing. I am so proud of it. It's not squiggly at all, and I didn't even have to use a pen liner! Hooray for me, yes? Also, my eyelid is really discolored. *insert eternal frownie face*
Tools:
- Medium blush brush (MAC 129)
- Domed crease brush (MAC 224)
- Triangular liner brush (MAC 211)
- MAC Fluidline in Avenue (Soft black gel liner with gold shimmer)
- MAC Pearlglide Liner in Blackline (Black with gold shimmer)
- Hard Candy Eye Shadow Duo in Break Up (Lighter side--soft whitish gold)
- Benefit Blush in Hervana (Brown pink)
- Bite Beauty Lipstick in Pepper (Brown pink)
Take the light side of Break Up on the 224 and dab it into the inner corner. Take Avenue on the 211 and line the upper lashline winging at the end. Apply Blackline to the lower lashline. Mascara--I only did the top.
Lips:
Apply Pepper.
Face:
Take Hervana on the 129 and apply to the apples of your cheeks.
Do you think this worked out as an interpretation of the picture? I'm not sure it did, but I did really go for it. It's just that peach lips... they look iffy on me when I'm trying to go for something natural-ish, so I switched to something in the realm of not weird.
If only I had a foofy princess dress to make it all more convincing!
One thing you should not do if you're a clumsy oaf like me is try and do the lower lashline with Avenue. I tried that initially and smudged a bit on the waterline. OH. MY. GOD. A brush is harder to aim away from the waterline is what I'm trying to get at here--and if you get glitter into your waterline, you will probably not be happy about it.
Robyn has Sleeping Beauty this week. I just clicked over, and it is a stunner. You'd be depriving yourself if you didn't check it out!
