And so my exploration of the Zoya Smoke and Mirrors collection continues! This time, I decided to go for Jem, another gorgeous color that Zoya released for Autumn.
Like with NARS Tokaido, it looks like there are bits of my nail showing through, but in person there really weren't. It's perplexing because I have no idea why. I double-checked whether it was opaque in person, and it totally was! GAH! This was two coats, and I swear up and down it was completely opaque. This is the second Zoya shade I tried, and again, the formula treated me well. It's a good just-right thickness, it dries quickly enough (I can do a second coat as soon as I'm done with the first) and wore for the full week on me (with very minimal tip wear). This shade didn't stain my nails, despite being darker (though, honestly, not much seems to stain my nails).
The color totally wowed me. It's stunning. There's no lack of deep red wine shades for Autumn and Winter, but the gold/green duochrome-y shimmer is really just... special. I love it!
The Good:
- Great shade. It's a deep wine with very pretty gold/green sparkle!
- Non-fussy formula makes for easy application.
- Reasonably quick dry-down.
- Good consistency. Neither too thin nor too thick for me.
- Opaque in just two coats.
- Good wear: a whole week with a top coat.
Nothing here!
The Neutral:
Nothing here!
Overall, again, I really enjoyed the Zoya polish formula. It was easy to work with, and I thought the color was pretty special. I'm into wines, but I already have a bunch, and this really stands out among them.
This is currently $8.00 from Zoya.
